The 2019 Tour of Utah, BFWT Edition, will be announced this Spring. The venues have already been announced. We will be riding in and around these killer locations. The order of routes and exact roads are still up in the air, but here is a taste of what to expect.
-Snowbird resort. We are staring at a 75-mile ride from Canyons Village to Snowbird, with a whopping 9600 feet of vertical climbing. We peak at 19.5% gradient…but only for a few moments. We get a blood curdling descent from mile 47 all the way to mile 64, Check it out at: https://ridewithgps.com/
-North Logan City. An hour North of Salt Lake City lies Layton, Ogden and Logan. We will get some series climbing in starting at mile Mile 27 before we cross over the pass at mile 32. Riders will have a choice to do the full 103 mile loop (only 1 categorized climb), or cut it off early and do only 60.
-Antelope Island State Park. Ride the causeway across Great Salt Lake and see if you can take some glory on Strava during that 14 mile round trip with zero elevation gain. Then, we ride the famous antelope Island before stopping at a mountain top for a great view back to “mainland” Utah. A shorter day, with ample time to head to the mountains for some R and R, a good meal, then off to bed before some real climbing!
-Two days in and around Park City. Day 1 is a 50 mile ride that takes us to the top of a mountain during the first 39 miles, then we reel it all back in on the last 11 miles. Spend the afternoon exploring park city. https://ridewithgps.com/
Day 2 is another Park City Ride. A full century ride, with 5,500 feet of climbing, with both the start and the finish in Deer Valley. Expect to see some wildlife. Once we finish, we will hit the hot tubs for a final “grand” meal in Park City where we will sort out the logistics for everyone’s flights the following day. https://ridewithgps.com/
NOTE: For safety reasons, we will not be replicating the time trials nor the circuit through downtown Salt Lake City on the last day, due to the road closure requirements that we cannot meet. However, you will see as many hills as we can give you.
Ben Looney will be our chef, a professionally trained chef who has traveled with cycling tours as their head cook. Ben will be preparing gourmet meals for us to eat at the start of the day, for mid-day fuel and end of the day recovery. Ben will be driving a van or food truck and will zoom ahead to our lunchtime stop each day, to make sure that as you arrive, you are getting great eats. Once we all leave the lunch location, Ben will zoom towards our finish line and begin work on dinner. Ben will be buying fresh food daily and prepare as we need items prepared. Ben has raced Ironman in Utah and knows some of the roads that we will be riding on, if the Tour planners stay true to their historical form.
